    Re: Donating Blood

Sorry I haven't replied to anyone since I first posted...the forum was messed up and you all know how that goes.

They will be sending me all my information in the mail to let me know my blood type and all that. I really wanted to know my blood type and you can't get that checked at the doctor's office without getting charged for it so, I took the opportunity to do something good and find out my blood type.

Usually if you are more hydrated it's easier....at least that's what they told me. They made me drink a few bottles of water before I donated just to make sure.

    Re: Donating Blood

Yeah I think that kind of thing runs in my family or something because my dad has gotten injections or blood work done and then pass out afterwards....and I've done that once after injections...and my sister did it after giving blood....so who knows...

    Re: Donating Blood

Whenever I gave blood they had a board saying that all blood was needed but they specified certain ones there was a greater need for.

Here's something I learned....Type O blood is the most common blood type but there is an uncommon need for type O donors. I guess this is because type O negative can be transfused to all blood types and type O positive can be transfused to all positive blood types so they must use mostly type O blood.

    Re: Donating Blood

I used to give blood all the time, but while serving inthe middle east in 1990-91, and in the medeterrainean, the red cross said i was on a lifetime "hold" because of where and when I was deployed. It has not changed. Some of you who served in Iraq should let them know before giving.
